I don't think that anyone at all has ever entered into business and found it easy going, first time out. Perhaps there are a lucky few, but for the majority of us, business is a learning process.
And if you aren't rich and you don't know any really self made rich people, there is a WHOLE LOT that you don't know about.
If you did know about these things, it might transform your ideas of what it takes to become really successful in your chosen field of endeavour.
Let's say for example we have a person, and they put their business on a website, whatever that may be, and they know much about anything really.
Nothing much happens.
No profit is being made, no turnover generated, and EVERYTHING is a lot of hard work for little pay.
Now our person doesn't give up, keeps at it, slogging away and learning from experience.
And there comes a moment - and this is the important moment and what this article is all about if you haven't experienced it yet! - WHEN EVERYTHING CHANGES.
The game changes.
All the rules change.
Everything is different, and new, and all of sudden, there are all these opportunities that weren't there before - like on a platter, given to you with a complimentary glass of champagne.
What is that moment?
For our website owner, it's the moment when they break through a certain ceiling of traffic and visitors, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere there come offers of paying for advertising space, of joint ventures, INVITATIONS to take part in certain groups and activities that you never even knew EXISTED before this threshold shift took place - and people start taking you, and your business, seriously at last.
It's an interesting principle because it applies to many things, possibly ALL things.
When our business started to turn over a certain figure, all of a sudden the rules at the bank changed. What we had access to and what was freely offered all of a sudden - and none of that was ever there before.
The same applied when we were looking for finance for a new project. We got the project PAST that threshold where people take you seriously, and there it is - offers of finance, support available from all sorts of people and places who are now TAKING AN INTEREST IN YOU.
It's like going from being a ghost in business, all of a sudden you become - real!
So what does that mean?
It means, for one thing, that you're not going to slog away and continue to slog away as you have in the past, and possibly you're still doing in the present, forever and ever and all the way up to your million dollar mark and beyond.
LONG, LONG before you get to whatever it is you're putting out there as your final goal, you will find the game has changed materially - it has become easier, there is support, there is profit offered to you in many different ways, there are resources you don't even know what they might be!
It may seem that you have an entire mountain to climb to become successful and really rich - but in fact, it's just that first steep rock face, and you'll find an elevator waiting for you to take you all the rest of the way to the luxurious chalet right at the top.
If I had known this, how the GAME CHANGES once you have a little bit of actual success to show for real, I would have worked much harder at the first steep rock face.
I think I was conserving energy, probably based on the idea of the long slog up the mountain.
I also think that my focus on the business at the time WAS NOT AS COMPLETE as it could have been, because I always factored in the possibility of failure - again, based on this idea that it would ALWAYS REMAIN AS DIFFICULT as it currently was.
You DON'T need to be earning millions for banks, fellow business people, advertisers, customers, staff, accountants et al to start taking you SERIOUSLY and for this complete change in the game to take place.
You just need to show that you know what you're doing, and that you're making a profit that's worthwhile.
That's it. THAT IS ALL.
And don't you think that is - possible?
To take whatever your business idea is, and see it through to that threshold shift where the game changes and all of a sudden, you're in this other place where you are still working but now you have support and all sorts of resources you never had before?
I really do think if I had ANY idea how much easier it gets once your business starts working, I would have reached that so much quicker.
It's a straightforward goal, to get your business to a point where it starts making money and would be worth something if you sold it on.
Much, much easier than have it become some multi-billion dollar affair in the clouds.
Much more realistic.
And in the meantime, DO LOOK FORWARD to experiencing for yourself what happens with that basic, simple, straightforward success behind you.
It's only the first $10,000 that's difficult.
After that - making money turns to fun.
Seriously!
I hope I made some sense,
Good business to all,
